1 Samuel Chapter 17  (NIRV) is the story, David. and Goliath. We at The Prayer Outreach are in a battle our Goliath is the enemy his warriors are DRUGS, ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, PORNOGRAPHY, LYING, CHEATING, LOW SELF ESTEEM, this is just a few of them however on our team we have GOD THE FATHER, JESUS CHRIST, THE HOLY SPIRIT and we are ready to go. I am going to take some parts of Davids story and put them to work in our story,

1 Samuel 17: 8(b)-9 Choose one of your men. Have him come down and face me. 9 If he’s able to fight and kill me, we’ll become your slaves. Well, our enemy satan [the accuser] is doing the same thing today and every day he is standing with his army those who he has lied to and they have listened. Those you have fallen away those who are addicted to something other than God. However, God does not want them as slaves He desires them to be His children and be Free.

In verse 16 we see Goliath taunting the army of Soul in the morning and the evening. In verse 25 The Israelites had been saying, “Just look at how this man keeps daring Israel to fight him! The king will make the man who kills Goliath very wealthy. The king will also give his own daughter to be that man’s wife. The king won’t require anyone in the man’s family to pay any taxes in Israel.”

Then along comes David in verse 26 “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine? Even as a young boy he did not worry or tremble he just simply asked a question. And made and observation, “Goliath is bringing shame on Israel. What will be done for the one who removes it? This Philistine isn’t even circumcised. He dares the armies of the living God to fight him. Who does he think he is?”

His brothers are treating him like a boy a child that came down to watch the battle, however, I think God had a different plan as we read on. He turns to some others and asks the same question. Well this got back to King Saul and he now is standing in front of Saul and he says in verse 32 “Don’t let anyone lose hope because of that Philistine. I’ll go out and fight him.” I love this here he is just a young boy, however, he was angry, not afraid I a might add, in fact, I think he was very angry about what Goliath was saying about the Israelites army.

Saul said to David, “Go. And may the Lord be with you.” Now we have a young sheep herder boy and he is about to do something that will change the world as it is known at the time. In verse 38 Then Saul dressed David in his own military clothes. He put a coat of armor on him. He put a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David put on Saul’s sword over his clothes. He walked around for a while in all that armor because he wasn’t used to it. All this armor weighed David down it was to big to heavy so he removes it. In verse 40 David picked up his wooden staff. He went down to a stream and chose five smooth stones. He put them in the pocket of his shepherd’s bag. Then he took his sling in his hand and approached Goliath. Think about it here stands this Giant of a man who has whipped many and here comes this young man in sheep herder clothes no armor, no shield, just a sling.

Now that is what Goliath saw however we know He already has on what Paul talks about in Ephesians 6:10-18 David is dressed in the Armor of God Let us stand together and take up and put on the WHOLE Armor of God, that we will be able to stand against the wiles of our enemy [the slanderer the devil]. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places. So now we will put on the WHOLE Armor of God, so we will be able to come out victorious in this evil day, and having done all, to STAND strong and defeat our enemy.

As we to prepare ourselves for action with our belt of truth, next we put on our breastplate of righteousness, and we put on our boots of the Gospel of Peace so we are ready to take action against our enemy. Now we take up the most important part of all, our shield of faith with this we WILL without a doubt be able to quench all the fiery darts of our enemy. Next, we put on our helmet of salvation to protect our brain from the thoughts the enemy will try to use against us, and now we take in hand our sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. We will be watchful to this end by sticking to the plan and humbly beg for You to guide us as we plead with You Father in prayer for all the saints— and for myself, that the words may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of Your gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly,

Now we are at verse 45(b) and David says, I am coming against you in the name of the Lord who rules over all. He is the God of the armies of Israel. He’s the one you have dared to fight against. 46 This day the Lord will give me the victory over you. I’ll strike you down. I’ll cut your head off. This day I’ll feed the bodies of the Philistine army to the birds and wild animals. Then the whole world will know there is a God in Israel. 47 The Lord doesn’t rescue people by using a sword or a spear. And everyone here will know it. The battle belongs to the Lord. He will hand all of you over to us.”

Boldly with no DOUBT nor FEAR “I come against you in the name of the Lord” Then not I might or I should or maybe I will he says, again boldly; I will strike you down, I will cut your head off, this day I will feed the bodies of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals. Does that sound like a wimpy child to you are a God Fearing Soldier of the Lord!  There is no doubt that he is going to destroy this ungodly giant. We have giants in our lives every day do we fight them or hide from them for that is the choices the Israelite Army was afraid to– even the King was afraid of their Goliath. So we as Christians should stand and take back what the enemy has stolen. Be it money be it children be it grand children be it, mates. As a child of God, we are not DEFEATED and will not be. So it is time for a war and we are going to win it in the mighty name of Jesus… AMEN!!! Let me leave you with this thought “Victory is only a stone’s throw away”
