John 14:13 (MEV) I will do whatever you ask in My name, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Whatsoever you ask in My name. This is a true statement taken totally out of context. John 14:13 let us back up and read:
John 14:12 (MEV) Truly, truly I say to you, he who BELIEVES in Me will do the works that I do also. And he will do greater works than these, because I am going to My Father.

It goes just a little farther than “ask and you shall receive” So let us look at what we find in the book of James. James 4:3 (MEV) You ask, and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your passions.
Amiss As an adverb it means Out of the right or proper course, order, or condition; improperly; wrongly or astray. As an adjective it means improper or wrong faulty.

We have a large amount of people that claim to be, when there is a need. However, when things are OK they life like the devil. Thus we have Proverbs 28:9 (MEV) He who turns away his ear from hearing instruction, even his prayer will be an abomination.
1 John 1:9 (MEV) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
