Advocate

Advocate Our Protector Our Defender

Advocate, one that argues for a cause; a supporter or defender. One that pleads in another’s behalf; an intercessor. Our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth is our advocate.  He is sitting at the right hand of the Father interceding in our behalf.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NASB) For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

Timidity: lacking in courage or self-confidence

Discipline: control that is gained by requiring that rules or orders be obeyed and punishing bad behavior, a way of behaving that shows a willingness to obey rules or orders, behavior that is judged by how well it follows a set of rules or orders

We should not be lacking in courage or self-confidence. We should be willing to obey our Lord and be willing to listen and do as we are told. That is why we need to learn to listen to that small still voice, the Holy Spirit He is Our Advocate.

We should actually do nothing without the Holy Spirit, we get in our car to go somewhere we should ask the Holy Spirit which way should be go. If we are going to buy something we should ask where we should by it. I am sure to some this sounds weird however we have the Holy Spirit for a reason. our Advocate is always praying for us and directing us.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit John 14:15-16 (NIV) 15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate [The Holy Spirit] to help you and be with you forever.

So Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit to guide and lead us. We know God the Father is in Heaven and Jesus is setting at the right hand of Him so we have the Holy spirit and we need to learn to trust Him, and listen to Him.

So let us practice for instance when you are praying when you finish take some quiet time and listen and see what you hear. We ask questions however do not listen for the answer. So let us try it and see what happens…
