Christians and Voting

I have thought about this for some time and with the help of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit I am going give it a shot. So let us first get started with this. In terms of politics and leadership, there is evidence in Scripture that God has not been happy with the choices of leadership that has been made Hosea 8:4 (NKJV) “They set up kings, but not by Me; They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them. From their silver and gold They made idols for themselves— That they might be cut off.. Here we see evidence of sin’s grip on this world is everywhere. A lot of the suffering in the world today is without a doubt because of Godless leadership As we see in Proverbs 28:12 (NKJV) When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory; But when the wicked arise, men hide themselves. Christians are told to obey legitimate authority unless it contradicts in other words, unless it goes against the Lord’s commands
Next let us look at some scripture– It is the duty and responsibility of every Christian to vote and to vote for leaders who promote Christian principles. God is most certainly in control, but that does not mean we should do nothing to further His will. I feel that we should seek our Fathers will. Also We are commanded to pray for our leaders. In 1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NKJV) We should Pray for All Men– 2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
In terms of politics and leadership, there is evidence in Scripture that God has been displeased with our choices of leadership at times. In my words, we do vote by not voting. If we do not vote then what we are saying is we will take what you give us. I believe that is why the government is is the shape it is in. We are trusting NONE Christian politicians run our country. We read in Hosea 8:4 (NKJV) “They set up kings, but not by Me; They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them. From their silver and gold They made idols for themselves— That they might be cut off. We have sat and let unGodly people in offices of authority. By not voting this is what has happened. The last election 73 million of registered voters did not vote and 42 million of those were Christians. We have allowed non-Christians take a country that the foundation of was Godly. Most in our Congress is multi millionaires it is all about how much they can grow while they are in office it is not about God, it is about money and we all know what it says in Matthew 6:24 (NKJV) “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
We also find in 1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV) For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. One simple question is what do you think the people in DC is after God or money? It is time Proverbs 28:12 (NKJV) When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory; But when the wicked arise, men hide themselves. Scripture gives us as Christians instructions to obey legitimate authority unless it goes against our Lord’s commands. Acts 5:27-29 (NKJV) 27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, 28 saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!” Also in Romans 13:1-7 (NKJV) 13 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore, you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. I have heard over and over it preached, we are to submit ourselves to those who are in authority, however it seems that the whole scripture was not told.
If we are truly born-again believers, we need to choose leaders who will be themselves led by our Creator 1 Samuel 12:13-25. Candidates or proposals that violate the Bible’s commands for life, family, marriage, or faith should never be supported (Proverbs 14:34). Christians should vote as lead through prayer and study of both God’s Word and of course, what is said of those who are running for the offices on our ballot. I will leave you with this thought from Proverbs 14:34 (NKJV) Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.
