Isaiah 28:18 (MEV) Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge passes through, then you shall be trodden down by it.

I have worked on this mornings prayer (10/25/2017) for some time now reading and studying before I posted the prayer and the devotional. My desire was to study the scripture and find its meaning. The prayer this morning was a difficult prayer for me, one, I felt, that needed to be and at the same time hard for me to write…

God, I feel, is talking to the people in Isaiah 28:18 who have a “covenant with SHL, a Hebrew word. (this is were the studying started) {vowels were not used at the time Isaiah was written, so it could be either SHEOL or SAUL} typically the word was translated as SHEOL or the grave and I believe that is the proper word here.. The people falsely believe this covenant would protect them from “the whip when it passes through. I think we can find in Jeremiah 30:23-24 is what this scripture is referring to. This scripture is speaking about a whirl wind {the whip} that passes through which represents the anger or wrath of God on the wicked and/or sinners in the latter days.

I am sure this one is difficult for others as well however my desire is to have others to understand that Heaven and hell are real and we all are going to end up in one or the other. This scripture attracted my attention for what reason I am not sure, however, I am sure that it is about dying and the fear of dying and not going to Heaven and even back before Jesus there was the fear of Hell I do believe.

A covenant with death and hell is real if one believes it or not. Every time a sin is committed it is a covenant and Jesus is the only way out. There is no other way period for in the scripture it says in John 14:6 (MEV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

So today I pray that a covenant is made with Jesus…
