Doers Of The Word Not Hearers Only

Doers of he word, that sounds like to me, James was having the same problem then that is here today. We go to church sit and listen (and in some cases complain about) to the praise and worship then the message. All the time looking at their time piece worrying about not getting home for the kick off or whatever.

Doers Of The Word Not Hearers Only

James 1:22-27 (MEV) 22 Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man viewing his natural face in a mirror. 24 He views himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in his deeds.
26 If anyone among you seems to be religious and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

Sitting in church and listening and not doing anything with what one hears is not being a true Christian. We are to be doers of the word. Our Father has a job for each and every one of us and we need to be doers not just hears it. If a farmer buys seed and takes it home. Does not plant it and make sure it is watered and taken care of. Then complains when it is time to harvest and there is nothing to harvest who’s fault is it his or Gods?
If a builder or contractor buys all the material to build a hospital, heirs all the people to do the work but does not tell them where it is to be built. Then complains that he did not get paid for the job who is right? We can not go to church and not use what we are taught or do what the Bibles teaches us to do and expect any results from it either.
