Eating Is The Subject Or Is It What We Eat?

Eating or drinking this or that is wrong. How many times have I heard I do not drink or eat this because it offends so-n-so. I have tried to understand it and I can not. The scripture that says any thing like that is 1 Corinthians 8:13 and Romans 14:21.

1 Corinthians 8 and Romans 14 a subject that I have avoided, however, I feel something needs to be said… So I will attempt it with help from the Holy Spirit…

As I read these scriptures I see one thing that seems to be missed in 1 Corinthians, that is about offerings to idols. And in Romans 14 I think in verse 3 explains it very simple and clear; Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him.

I actually feel that this is another thing taken out of context by some. If I have a neighbor and they do not believe in drinking coffee. I will not offer them coffee or drink coffee when I am with them. The same goes with food. If it would make them stumble I would not do that.

However what I do in their absents will not offend them. The reason I say this is simple if we do not eat or drink this or that because it offends someone before long one will die because they can not eat or drink anything because it offends someone. Then one will offend someone because they do not eat or drink.

That is why I say do not do it in front of said person. There are things I do not eat nor drink. Not because it offends someone it is because I do not like them. When I got saved things in my life changed and that was because of who I serve.

All I am going to say is we all can do things that could make others stumble and we need to be thoughtful of them. Again it goes back to studying and knowing the word. It is about listening to the Holy Spirit.

My desire is that we all become closer to our Lord and Savior today. Closer than yesterday and tomorrow the same. I want to see a group full of love, a group that can accept and love others right where they are and be that example of our Father that we should be..
