Goodness–Knowledge–Self-Control–Perseverance–Godliness

Goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.  We find the end result is Love.  For God so loved that he gave His ONLY begotten Son, Jesus so loved us that He Died for us; what have we given?  Do we accept what He did and just sit and hope we sneak into heaven.  I am not saying you have to I am saying LOVE is a tool that makes one want to.  Do I do things for Debbie because it is my duty or is it because I LOVE her.  We should be Loving Jesus the same way for he is returning one day and we need to be ready.

2 Peter 1:10-11 (NIV) 10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Last night I was reminded of this verse. I was reminded of how much I was loved, over 1944 years before I was even thought of or even born. Jesus gave his life he fulfilled the law for us all so that we all can LIVE free of sin. So I thought today would be a good day to remind us of who we are through what Jesus Christ. It all starts with Goodness and ends in Love.

2 Peter 1:9 says that if we do not have these gifts in our faith we should make every effort to add goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. [verses 5-7]. Then without them we will be ineffective and unproductive.

Peter challenges us to make every effort to do as we have been called to do as Christians. As I read this I thought of Luke 11:33 (NKJV) “No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lamp-stand, that those who come in may see the light.

If one buys anything new does one not show it off no one would hide it whatever it would be. Unless they have forgotten who paid the price for them and have let satan [the accuser] as in John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Let us not do as it is said in Matthew 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

My prayer today is that we all grow in our Christian walk and be a Light in a dark world…
