He Gave All

Colossians 3: 23-24 (NIV)  23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

I find this scripture so full of Jesus. If we could only grasp what Paul is saying here. When one goes to do a job, and job can be anything, do it as unto the Lord. When you go out to mow your lawn, in some cases this time of the year it would be shovel snow. Do it for the Lord.

Why would I want to shovel snow as doing it for the Lord. Well let us look at that. Jesus died for us before we were born, in fact before we were even though about. He gave us heaven he died so that we might live. We are not serving our boss or our neighbor not even our spouse. We are serving the Lord Jesus Christ and what he did for us. So how about today let us try to do EVERYTHING unto the Lord.

I remember a time in my Church we had just finished a week-long illustrated sermon about Christmas. 10 performances and all the thank you had been handed out and I had run sound and help build the sets adjusted lights even printed the brochure. My name was not mentioned once not even in the section were it talked about everyone that had a part in this production.

I was angry about it and a Christian friend ask me what the problem was and I snapped back “Nothing”, as I walked past him. So he asked again and I stopped and told him everything, When I had finished he stood there silently, I think just to make sure I was finished. Then he ask one question. “Who did you do it for”? I stood there for a minute and then said “Jesus” and he asked a question that has kept me going for years. “Do you think he did not see what you have done”? That question shakes me today when I think about it. He gave all for me.

It was not for the people who showed up or the people who performed or anyone else, I did it for Jesus. I do what I do now for Jesus. Jesus is the reason I get up in the morning and the reason I go to sleep at night. He gave all for us…

Memory Verse for November 12, 2015

Today is not a verse, only a question “WHO DID YOU DO IT FOR”? What ever you do this day, ask yourself who did you do it for?
