Jesus and Peter Walk on the Water

Jesus and Peter walked on the water, however, that has been preached into the ground. Of course, we have to preach on Peter starting to sink and him asking Jesus to save him. This devotional is from a different point of view.

This story of Jesus walking on the water has been preached over and over and over again, you can read the whole thing here Matthew 14:22-33. Trust me I am not making light of this at all I am just going somewhere else. Peter walked on the water as well. We have no idea how far or how long, however, we do know that he did and then he started sinking and Jesus saved him and asked him a simple, however, deep QUESTION– “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?

Now we come to my question in verse 26 we read But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. Then in verse 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.  ”There were 12 disciples in one verse they were afraid in another the worshiped Him and that is another devotional I will get to, however, I want to look at a small fact here there were 11 disciples that did not step out of the boat they stayed in the boat and let Peter sink…  My question is one for each one of you to think about and make a decision on…

Are you of the 11 who stayed in the boat safe and sound in a storm or are you a Peter and willing to step out of the boat? Stepping out of the boat is a scary thing, trust me I know, September 17, 2014, I stepped out of the boat. And yes I have started sinking a few times and Jesus has come to the rescue every time. Every time though I have become stronger and willing to go on more determined. So now it is totally up to you—it is your choice 1 or 11.
