Living Before God Our Father A Call to Holy Living

Living a Holy life is something we all should do. However being a human born in sin, we slip and slid sometimes. That is why we needed Jesus to die for us so we can be Holy and a Christian. Reading this scripture I saw a couple things and thought I would share it…

1 Peter 1:13-16 (NKJV) 13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

Let us look at what is said here. The first thing is we should gird up our loins of our mind, what does that mean:
Gird up ones loins is to prepare oneself to face or contend with something. To encircle (a person or the part of the body) with a belt or band. To fasten or secure (clothing, for example) with a belt or band. To surround. To prepare (oneself) for action.

The New International Reader’s Version (NIRV) says it this way (which I like better) 13 So be watchful, and control yourselves completely. In this way, put your hope in the grace that lies ahead. This grace will be brought to you when Jesus Christ returns. 14 You should obey your Father. You shouldn’t give in to evil desires. They controlled your life when you didn’t know any better. 15 The God who chose you is holy. So you should be holy in all that you do. 16 It is written, “Be holy, because I am holy.”

This all about us and how we should live. It is something that we will work at until He returns for us. As for me, I am working on, thinking before I open my mouth, and answering or saying what I feel Jesus would say in the same situation. What I am learning, real quick is I need to know scripture and have it ready at all times.

I feel, a goal that we all should work toward is being what we say we are. A Christian be Christ Like. That is my desire, and I am so glad that we have a forgiving Father and Jesus that cares and loves us. We need to be a blessing to those around us.
