I can remember saying “If you die right now do you know you are going to Heaven?” When I first got saved I think that was my opening statement to everyone I met. Now not so as much and I need to get back to it…
It is closer than we think… Look around you as you drive down the street or Highway. How close is that car behind you or in front of you? How about that truck that just passed you on the highway? He may only be 5 feet away. Well that is how close we are to death, and we never think of it that way. I mean it is just that simple in the twinkle of an eye it is over.
2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (NKJV) 6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
I am not trying to scare anyone I just want us to think about our lives and what is happening around us. I have seen death and have wondered if they are going to Heaven and I want to know not hope. If anyone around anyone reading this that is not saved. Do we know what to do or how to do it? If someone walked up to you and asked you to show them how to become a Christian could you tell them? That is the question.
I started writing a few years ago about salvation and how to tell someone. However I could not get it to start the way I felt it should start. Well the gentleman that put the thought about the highway gave me what I needed.
So now I have a starting place. So if nothing else I am asking for prayer for me to get it done and make it teachable, I am not an educated man I am lead by our Father through the Holy Spirit. I am blessed with the Holy Spirit to guide me. So yes, I do spend a lot of time listening for what I am to say and do.
Sometimes I am sure I have the Lord shaking His head at what I do. My son and I was talking about a great grandchild of mine, and his grandchild, that he was just like us both—hardheaded. However our Lord is patient and will take care as soon as I listen.
Lord today I pray for guidance in our lives that we all learn to listen to that small still voice and do as we are instructed. I ask that You guide and led us in the right path and let us see what You have planned for our lives, to do for Your glory.
