No Reception No Signal, Are We Really Listening

No Reception No Signal, have you ever felt God does not hear what you have to say?  God is not listening to you it seems like one is in a dry spot in a desert all alone and there is no reception no signal.

No Reception No Signal, Are We Really Listening

I think we all have had times when we felt God was not listening to us. I think of Jesus and his prayer Matthew 26:39a (NKJV) He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; Was Jesus in a spot where he desired to get out of it.  We can read between the lines and guess about it. However, if we go back and read the whole verse Matthew 26:39 we see nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Sometimes we need to carry on and trust and believe in our Lord.

When this happens, one is feeling alone and God is not listening. First pray through one’s sin checklist, as sin will silence God’s voice in my life. If there is a sin that has not been confessed, God will reveal it to one through the Holy Spirit and then one should repent of it, knowing full well that: 1 John 1:9-10 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. One needs to confess it and make it right. Then if there is still silence from God, one should watch with anticipation for what God is going to teach about Himself. Wait, and sooner or later God will reveal Himself. It is guaranteed! Micah 7:7 (NKJV) Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.

I read this little story and I wish to share it with you all, to finish this Devotional. There was a young man who had lost his job and didn’t know which way to turn. So he went to see the old preacher. Pacing about the preacher’s study, the young man ranted on about his problem. Finally, he clenched his fist and shouted, “I’ve begged God to say something to help me. Tell me, Preacher, why doesn’t God answer?”

The old preacher, who sat across the room, spoke something in reply–something so hushed it was indistinguishable.

The young man stepped across the room. “What did you say?” he asked.

The preacher repeated himself, but again in a tone as soft as a whisper.

So the young man moved closer until he was leaning on the preacher’s chair. “Sorry,” he said. “I still didn’t hear you.”

With their heads bent together, the old preacher spoke once more. “God sometimes whispers,” he said, “so we will move closer to hear Him.” This time the young man heard and he understood.
