Noah and the Flood the Rest of the Story

We all have heard the story of Noah and the Ark so I am not going to re-tell it. I do wish to look at part of the story though. Let us look at Genesis 6:9-22 If you wish to read it in the [NKJV] just click on the name] I am using this version for the details. Genesis 6:9-22 (NIRV) 9 Here is the story of Noah’s family line. Noah was a godly man. He was without blame among the people of his time. He walked faithfully with God. 10 Noah had three sons. Their names were Shem, Ham and Japheth.

11 The earth was very sinful in God’s eyes. It was full of people who did mean and harmful things. 12 God saw how sinful the earth had become. All its people were living very sinful lives. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to everyone. They have filled the earth with their harmful acts. I am certainly going to destroy them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark out of cypress wood. Make rooms in it. Cover it with tar inside and out. 15 Here is how I want you to build it. The ark has to be 450 feet long. It has to be 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. 16 Make a roof for it. Leave below the roof an opening all the way around that is a foot and a half high. Put a door in one side of the ark. Make lower, middle and upper decks. 17 I am going to bring a flood on the earth. It will destroy all life under the sky. It will destroy every living creature that breathes. Everything on earth will die. 18 But I will make my covenant with you. You will go into the ark. Your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives will enter it with you. 19 Bring a male and a female of every living thing into the ark. They will be kept alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird will come to you. Two of every kind of animal will also come to you. And so will two of every kind of creature that moves along the ground. All of them will be kept alive with you. 21 Take every kind of food that you will need. Store it away as food for you and them.”

22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

  1. I think we all understand that Noah was and had to have been for God choose him to build this Ark.
  2. The earth was very sinful in God’s eyes. Sounds like America today. People are trying to remove God from everything.
  3. God saw how sinful the earth had become. Again sounds like American today. Athirst are wanting Crosses remove others wish to have “In God We Trust” removed from our money. Muslims wish to burn Christian Church buildings and behead Christians.
  4. All its people were living very sinful lives. Again sounds like America today. Porn shops everywhere, Bars, Drugs sold on street corners in schools under the counter of stores.

So God said I am going to put an end to everyone. They have filled the earth with their harmful acts. I am certainly going to destroy them and the earth.  Again sounds like America today!

Now comes the interesting part– Verses 14 through 16 tells Noah to build an Ark and how to build it what to use and why he should build it. Let us stop right here for a minute:

  • 1st question what is an ARK?
  • 2nd what is a FLOOD? Now if it was today those would be questions we would ask and even how are you going to do that and God would say with rain.
  • Thus 3rd question what is RAIN?

I do not read one of these questions from Noah. He just started to work on the Ark. God said he would make a COVENANT with Noah. In the Bible, a COVENANT is a divine promise establishing or modifying God’s relationship to humanity or to a particular group. So God promised Noah that he was going to save him and his family from this flood.

This is a good place for Noah and the Flood the Rest of the Story to be inserted Matthew 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant. It is poured out to forgive the sins of many people. God had a flood to destroy SIN, Jesus’ BLOOD was the FLOOD to cover all sin and JESUS is our ARK. He made a Covenant with us and all we have to do is the same thing Noah did. By FAITH we accept what Jesus did for us. John 3:16-17 tells the whole story and it is so simple. John 3:16-17 (NIRV) 16 God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. 17 God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world. He sent his Son to save the world through him.

Noah did everything just as God commanded him.     Jesus did everything just as God commanded him.

Memory Verse for November 14, 2015

Genesis 6:11 (NIRV) The earth was very sinful in God’s eyes. It was full of people who did mean and harmful things.

Thank you for reading and may God bless and be with you and watch over you. And America it is time for us to BLESS GOD again…

Isaiah 46:4 (NKJV) Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.
