A person trying to serve two masters can not according to Matthew 6:24 one will love one and hate the other or hold to the one and despise the other.

Romans 12:2 (MEV) Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I see this scripture as a warning… A flashing RED light. Humans place a large amount of value on things. What one wears, what one has, where on lives, even what one does for a living. The world has told us that this is what life is all about. Is it really? I am not saying having nice things is bad what I am saying is DO NOT put things before God our Father.

The enemy would have one believe this stuff is very important, but it is not.

Is Things Important?

The first Commandment–You shall have no other Gods but me.

Why Is That

If things tell others who we are then things become our god…

Can Christians Have Nice Things

I think Proverbs 16:1-3 is a good answer to that question. Verse 1 says 1 The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
The preparations belong to our hearts.
However the answer belongs to God, we find in verse one.

Next We See Verse 2

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit.
In our own eyes all things are good in our own eyes
However, our Father looks at why we want them or have them.

Then Verse 3

Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.
If we have our eyes, our thoughts and desires on the Lord.
Then the Lord will take care of it and we will have them.
