Prayer For Thursday December 20, 2018

Prayer for a Christian is like blood for our body. Our body will not and can not work without blood and,as a Christian, we can not work without prayer. Prayer is our fuel like gas for our car. Our food for our bodies.

This morning is the beginning of a new day. Yesterday I called Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville and got an appointment with a real Doctor that really knows what he is doing. Did not have to wait for months for an appointment and did not get miss lead. I am so happy and what the enemy tried to do my Father used for good…

The Lord will bless us if only we follow His guidance. He wishes to bless us if we obey and let Him. Our Father is in the blessing business and He wishes to bless us. However when we ignore and pout when we don’t get our way, I feel he gives us enough rope to hang ourselves. So He can get our attention.

Why are we so stubborn? Why do we pout when we do not get our way? Why are we so selfish? And because we are human is not a good excuse. I grew up in a family that was poor. Now I do not mean under a tree poor. I do mean we did not live high on the hog, so to speak.

When I got my first car. It was a 1949 Plymouth my dad got it at a police auction for $7.50, yes Seven dollars and fifty cents. I whined about my friends had cars and I didn’t. So he got it for me and gave it to me. Buy licenses and get liability insurance and you have a car was his words.

The point is, it was not what I wanted but it was what I got and years later I appreciated it. After he had passed and had gotten saved, I realized the lesson he was teaching me. We pray and the Lord gives and we complain. Lord I need a coat,so we get a coat, nothing fancy in fact it has a tare in the sleeve but its a coat.

When we pray are we praying specifically or generally. When we pray we need to be specific we need to say what we mean and mean what we say… I have learned that a long wordy prayer is not necessary to get our Fathers attention. A short simple pray in some cases will work.

Jesus said in Matthew 17: 19-21 His disciples ask why they could not do it, He said if we have the faith of a mustard seen we can move mountains however because of our unbelief it did not happen. Then in Mark chapter 9 we see where Jesus casts out demons and the man is like he is dead and Jesus takes his hand and it gets up.

The disciples ask why they could not do it and He said this kind only by fasting and prayer. In this cast it is fasting (yes that nasty word) fasting and prayer. We need to learn and do. We need to be what we are to be and that is something we must work for. Learning how to pray is so important it is not many words it is the right and necessary words…

Ephesians 6:18 (MEV) Pray in the Spiritual ways with all kinds of prayer and supplication. To that end be alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

Pray with all kinds of prayer and supplication. All kinds of prayer means there is all sorts of prayer and we need to study and understand and believe and then pray in the right prayer.

Philippians 4:6 (MEV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God.

Jude 20-21 (MEV) 20 But you, beloved,build yourselves up in your most holy faith. Pray in the Holy Spirit. 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God while you are waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, which leads to eternal life.

John 14:12-14 (MEV) 12 Truly, truly I say to you, he who believes in Me will do the works that I do also.And he will do greater works than these, because I am going to My Father. 13 I will do whatever you ask in My name, that the Father maybe glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

John 16:21-24 (MEV) 21 When a woman is giving birth, she has pain, because her hour has come. But as soon as she delivers the child, she no longer remembers the anguish for joy that a child is born into the world. 22 Therefore you now have sorrow. But I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. 23 On that day you will ask Me nothing. Truly, truly I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. 

My prayer today is that we learn to pray with power and understanding believing in our Lord and Savior. I pray this all in the mighty and precious name of Jesus–AMEN!
