Qualifications to be an overseer, what does that mean? Well is man the head or OVERSEER of his household? Is the President the head or OVERSEER of the government? How about a Pastor the head or OVERSEER of his church? Even a teacher is the head or OVERSEER of their class? Is those not that what an OVERSEER is? The head, the overseer, the leader. Yes even a husband is and OVERSEER or head of his household.

1 Timothy 3:1-3 (MEV)

1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the office of an overseer, he desires a good work. 2 An overseer then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach; 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent, not greedy for money, but patient, not argumentative, not covetous;

So let us see what we have here “The qualifications to be an OVERSEER…

First an OVERSEER Must Be

Must be blameless

Second an OVERSEER Must Be

The husband of one wife, sober, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach and patient.

Third an OVERSEER Can Not Be

Given to drunkenness, violent, greedy, argumentative. Or covetous…

Wow, there is a list to hang on the wall. So being an OVERSEER is quite a responsibility or should I say a person in charge?
