Repent

Acts 8: 20-23 (NIV) 20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
Here we have Simon the Sorcerer, who thought he could buy his way into the kingdom of God. However he found out that it was not going to happen. Peter saw right through him, we see this in verse 22 the first thing Peter said to him was REPENT and to this day it has not changed one can not work hard enough nor can one buy ones way in. The only way is to REPENT.
Peter saw all the bitterness and sin in Simon and knew what had to happen and spoke it boldly to him. Peter saw he wanted to buy his way into Heave. The amazing thing is with Peter’s harsh words Simon figures it out and asked Peter to pray to the Lord for me. The love of God is not for sale it is a gift and all one has to do is ask honestly and one will be given this gift absolutely free no strings attached. Acts 8:24 Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”
