Salt and Light

OK I am going to warn you right from the start. I am going to step on some toes and I will admit that a lot of those that should read this will not. So the ones that do maybe we can get to the ones that do not.
Matthew 5:13-16 (NKJV) 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Let us look at the world today, and then read verse 13 again… YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH. Question who is the SALT OF THE EARTH?
Are we the salt or have we lost our flavor [SPIRIT] how can the world be seasoned [WON] if we do not do what we should do. So let us go to Matthew 5:15 (NKJV) Nor do they light a lamp [get saved and learn] and put it under a basket [do not use it], but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house [let everyone see what we are and tell them about it].
How I am I doing that some might say? Well let’s see a couple of your neighbors are standing out by the garage and one starts with a nasty, filthy joke and we stand and listen to it and even laugh at it. Or we see someone drop their wallet and we pick it up and stick it in our pocket and not return it. As we walk away the neighbor that told the dirty joke, that we walked away from, sees us do it. Are we any different from him telling the dirty joke? We have lost or flavor!
Or one invites the neighborhood ladies over for a time of chit-chat. As Sue leave one of them has a negative remark about her and one stands and listens to it. Then Carol leaves and again it happens and one listens to it. Three or four more leave and the same thing. Then it is time and you say your good byes and leave… What do you think happens after you leave? There you go. Are we the Light we are supposed to be.
We have lite a lamp [accepted the Lord] and put it under a basket. We have to be different and not listen to it nor do it. Another way it was said 2 Corinthians 6:14 (NKJV) Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? There are a lot of excuses why we do it: I don’t want to offend them. I don’t know what to say. I am not good at talk about getting saved, and on and on well one is talking about it and not saying a word. That is where the light comes in.
To be the salt and light we need to be different we need to be the example. We need to be who we say we are. That is a problem today. If we all took the stand that our Missionaries have taken, then I am sure that killing Christians would not be on the top of their list, Billy Graham said it best I think, after returning from then Communist Russia, The problem with American Christians is no one is threatening to kill them. Well if we do not wake up it is closer than you think.
It is time to step out of the boat. It is time to get our feet wet and try this walking on the water thing. We need to be the Light we are supposed to be. Let us work at being the salt and light we are supposed to be. Remembering one does not have to say a word to be salt or light. There has been a lot of Talking the Talk now it is time to WALK THE WALK. Are You IN?

Psalm 5:8 (AMP) Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way level (straight and right) before my face.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which in in heaven. Matthew 5:16. Need to wake up and be the example, and do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Step out and be the one to walk away from gossip, walk away when there’s dirty talk. Dont go along with the crowd of darkness. Yes, if we do we will loose our flavor, and if we dont walk the walk and talk the talk, eventually we will be like those that have not tasted and seen that the Lord is good. If we dont let our light shine we will begin to walk in the dark. Go along with crowd, or sit back and be stale in our comfort zone, slid into heaven with no crowns to give. We didn’t give while we were here. Well, I”m staying salty and I”m gonna let my light shine. Does this all make sense???
