Seventy Years Have Been Completed For Babylon

Seventy years have been completed. OK now, what? Seems the Jews are just a tad hard headed. I think Babylon is there in the Jewish history as a reminder of what can happen… And hard-headed comes from the history…

Seventy Years Have Been Completed For Babylon

Jeremiah 29:10-14 (MEV) 10 For thus says the Lord: When seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. 11 For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you shall call upon Me, and you shall come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 You shall seek Me and find Me when you shall search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will turn away your captivity and gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back into the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.

Approximately 70 to 73 years in captivity with the Assyrian captivity or (Assyrian exile) and the Babylonian Captivity or the (Babylonian exile). Then we have the 400 years in Egypt and the 40 years in the wilderness. 40 years for an 11-day walk yes I would say hard headed is the proper term.

God took care of them through this all and yet they doubted and took up other idles. That sounds sort of like the USA today. Making idles out of homes, cars, boats and even TV. I can’t go to church today for my favorite time is playing and I can not miss this game. Sounds like an idle to me. That big fancy car, an idle, the 14,000 square foot home, again an idle.

We have to drive out of our way to get our favorite coffee, that makes us late to work, an idle. The list can go on and on and on, we today have idles everywhere. However how many of us do not have time to pray or only pray when we have a need. Who only have time to go to church on special days like Christmas and Easter. Who is not sure where Matthew or Amos is in the Bible. Idles are everywhere…

Most Pastors have a title for their messages I dare you to stop people in the parking lot and ask them the title of the Message after church. I think one would be shocked at the number that has no idea. Going to church has become like going to work. It is something one has to do like it or not.

I think it is time to get back to LOVE! Think about the Babylons in our lives that are Loved before our Father before Jesus or before the Holy Spirit…
