Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake Do Not Repay Evil For Evil

Suffering for righteousness is not an easy life it is hard for it is opposite of what our flesh would do, however, it is what Jesus did over and over. He would not even give them a word when He was on His way to the cross.

1 Peter 3:8-12 (MEV) 8 Finally, be all of one mind, be loving toward one another, be gracious, and be kind. 9 Do not repay evil for evil, or a curse for curse, but on the contrary, bless, knowing that to this you are called, so that you may receive a blessing.
10 For “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good;
let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and His ears are open to their prayers;
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

This is also found in Psalms 34:12-16 David was saying and he says in verse 14 Turn away from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. As Peter said in verse 11. Then we find in Romans 12:19-21 again do not repay evil with evil and in verse 19 “Vengeance is Mine. I will repay,” Also in Proverbs 25:21-22 repaying bad with good is like pouring or heaping hot coals on the evildoers head…

Putting it in Jym’s terms we should never get down in the sewer with them let one stay up on the dry sidewalk… Think about when someone has a nasty word to you do not react, respond and see what happens. The evil-doer will either try to do more or just shut up or stop and walk away. They can not take love from one they tried to hurt. Suffering for righteousness is a good thing…
