The Whole Armor

Ephesians 6:10-20 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Sorry for the length of this devotional however I feel I need to explain this and why I pray this every morning for all the members of our groups. Thinking about it thought I would write about it. My desire is that everyone understands why I do this and hope that Everyone will grasp the reason and the purpose of it.

We need to comprehend who we are. We are the children and the King. He is the most powerful, I mean we can read in Genesis of His power and He is our Dad. He loves us more than anyone could ever love us and He will never give up on us. To prove His loves us we are given a suit of Armor. First the breastplate of righteousness. The definition of a breastplate is protection worn over the chest, or a square cloth with twelve jewels worn by ancient Jewish high priests.

This is worn to protect our heart, for it is susceptible to the wickedness of this world. The enemy attacks our heart daily trying to convenes us of his lies. What he [satan] is trying to do is steal our Righteousness or our faith Paul writes to the Romans that righteousness comes by faith: “righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.'” (Romans 1:17) (NKJV)

Next is we should shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. We need to put on our shoes with the action or process of preparing or being prepared for use or consideration. We need to be at peace as in 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

Next is the shield of faith if we live and understand our faith. We are guarded by our God and He will protect us from the enemy and his lies that he tries to feed us.

The Helmet of Salvation this is saying that we should fill our brain with the scripture and the helmet is to protect our brain and not let it be filled with the lies of satan [the accuser] That when they do come at us we will respond with scripture.

The sword of the spirit is the word that we have filled ourselves with for the scripture as in Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is one who discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I hope that this will help one understand why we should put on The Whole Armor. It is the most important thing we can do before we head out of bed. I say that jokingly however it is the truth for the enemy is after us all the time 24/7 and we need to understand it and be ready for it…

Memory Verse for February 1, 2015

Ephesians 6:10 (NKJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

May God be with you and watch over you. And America it is time for us to BLESS GOD again…

Psalm 5:8 (AMP) Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way level (straight and right) before my face.

This is Bill — Once the armor is put on when is it ever taken off to have to be put back on? When do we initially receive the armor?

    1. I put the Armor on daily, the reason is based on Romans 13:12-14 (NIV) Paul makes this statement 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. I feel this is what Paul did. I feel we receive the ability to have the Armor once one has accepted Jesus Christ.
