Walking on Water”

Matthew 14:28-31 (NIV)
28 “Lord, is it you?” Peter asked. “If it is, tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” Jesus said. So Peter got out of the boat. He walked on the water toward Jesus.
30 But when Peter saw the wind, he was afraid. He began to sink. He cried out, “Lord! Save me!”
31 Right away Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “Your faith is so small!” he said. “Why did you doubt me?”
Have you ever been at church and the Pastor hits you right between the eyes with a message that lights your fire? You know what I am talking about, you are there you feel closer to God that you have in a long time. If there was a lake at the front door of the church you would walk right across it.
You walk out get in your care and head for the local meeting place, your favorite restaurant, and about half way there some one pull out in front of you and for a second you lose a little of that faith to anger. Then a light changes and a little more slips away. then the last parking spot someone else gets, you have to go around the corner and park on the street. Then the bottom falls out just as you get out of the care there is a cloud burst and you get soaked running to the door of the restaurant. However you are sinking and about to drown and you start fighting to stay on top. All you had to do was repeat the message “Lord Save me”.
As you walk in the restaurant in your mind you hear “Why did you doubt me”? Our life is no different from Peter walking on the water. Our water can be many different challenges in life however we doubt. Let’s practice looking to the savior and trusting him to save us.
