Your Word Is Your Bond According To Jesus

The Word says let your yes’ be yes and your no’s be no.  In other words, we do not we just tell the truth and do not lie.  My dad said your word is a contract and no one can take that from you, however, you can give it away with a lie.

Your Word Is Your Bond According To Jesus

I remember when they took swearing on the Bible out of the court system, and Christians had a fit. Well, I guess maybe they had never read this or maybe never saw it, or thought they know better than Jesus.

My Dad was a man with on education never spent one day in school. However, to the day, I remember what he said. “This world can take everything from you except for one thing and that is your word“. “You can give it away however no one can take it. Your word is your bond”

When I got saved I was told to start out reading the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) So that is where I started. Then doing as I was told I was reading Matthew and this verse hit me Matthew 5: 37 But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. Wow, even my Dad understood that I thought as I read it again. A man with no education at all had never read the Bible and from what I was told never set foot in a Church. (He did before He passed, however, do not know if he excepted Jesus.  For I was married and unsaved living in Chicago.

Now let us look at this Matthew 5: 33-34 33 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

Under the Law, one should not swear falsely. However under Grace Jesus said don’t swear ever, never, under no circumstance, just let you’re YES be YES and your NO be NO, be a person of integrity. So the lesson of the day is?
