How many times a day do we venture back into the past? I have sat here in front of this computer and my mind has been blank. Could not think of one thing to write about and then by looking for something that might help others grow I came across this scripture. Again I can only speak for myself, but I am bad about looking back and catch myself hanging out there. Remembering the good old days.

Were they that great, that is the question I find myself asking myself? Not really in fact a large amount of the time it was not good at all. We were not rich nor poor we had what we needed but not much more. So with that, I will continue and hope this helps others…

by Shepherd Jym Wells

Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV) 12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

I feel that we all need to understand that the past is just that and we all need to let it stay the past and practice this scripture. Paul said he is working toward it as well. So leaving the past in the past is not an easy thing, but we must work at it.

Again I can not speak for anyone but myself and yes I venture back there. Not as much that I used to but I still do it. Being human we all make mistakes and sometimes we hang out there to long and that is where the trouble starts. The Good Ole Days, were they actually that great. As a child may be but we are now adults and they don’t look that great.

I have decided to make a change. If I go back there I am going to spend twice as much time in God’s word. So if the enemy wants me in the past then I throw the future in his face. Let us give that a shot and see how the enemy likes that.

I hope this helps you grow in the Lord and less time with our enemy. He is still a liar and the father of it and I am not giving in to him.

Memory Verse…

James 4:7 (NKJV) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

  1. Wow I like throwing the future in the enemies face that’s a good one. I don’t venture into the past I know it was bought with Jesus’s precious blood and I have no rights to it. Besides I know He makes all things new. So if I am a new creation and old things have past away then I consider them dead. Besides I don’t like to think on it because it wasn’t good. I don’t want to think about things that aren’t good. I suppose that’s why the Word says think on these things whatever is god and lovely and virtuous and of good report. I think I got that right. I should look and see if those are the correct words.
