We all, I am sure, have been places we did not understand why or how we would get out of it. Well I think that is where the children of Israel were. What did they do? Something I think we all are guilty of and that is looking back and questioning why did we leave there.

Exodus 14:10-11 (NKJV) 10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord. 11 Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt?

Have you ever been afraid of where you are going? Then wishing you had never left the, what you thought, was a safe place. And then after a while and a long journey you find yourself in a better place?

Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV) 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have [laid hold of it]apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Well I believe that is why we were given Philippians 3:13 that is when we should lay hold of the new and forget the old. Our God knows what He is doing the question is do we trust him in where He is taking us and what we are going through. And letting go of the past even the generational past. Without even knowing or understanding we hang onto the past and keep running back to what we think is a safe place.

It actually was and is not a safe place what it is a familiar place and we are comfortable there. Comfortable is not always the safest place. Look at America, had ever sailed this far before but someone had to try it. Do we think there was never a time that they wanted to turn back. Well our walk with Christ is the same thing.

That is why Paul said I do not count myself to laid hole of the things that I do, but he trusted God enough to let go and move on. The main thing though is he grasp the new and dumped the old stuff and trusted the Lord to take care of him. Do we really trust our Father to take care of us no matter what we must go there… I sure hope so!

Lord I ask for comfort for us as we venture out into new land not knowing what lays in store for us, but believing that You will take care of us and show us what we need. Now I pray this in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior AMEN!
