Are You Ready To Let Go

“When one ask for Forgiveness one must be ready to let go of the sin.” What do these words mean to you? How can anyone carry around a sin and ask forgiveness of it. Let us look at a couple of scriptures Isaiah 43:25 (NIV) “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Hebrews 10:17 (NIV) “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” Our God forgives our sins and remembers them no more. So I ask how can we not forgive and forget. I can remember saying will I might forgive so–in-so however I will never forget it. Well that is a lie for if one truly forgives in a short time it is gone, remember I said truly forgives. Are you ready to let go for if not then repenting is not what is happening one is only fooling oneself.

We need to learn to let go of the past for it is like a cancer it will spread until it literally eats one alive. If we still have bitterness or anger then we truly and honestly have not forgiven. That is our sin and it is no better that whatever happened to us for sin is sin there is not big sin or small sin. How many time have I heard “that was just a little white lie” no sin is sin. When I first got saved I said that as well and now I can see where I paid the price for it.

You know you can not work your way to Heaven no matter what you do see Heaven is a gift from God all you have to do or can do is accept that gift. However you can work your way to hell for the Bible says the wages of sin is death, according to Romans 6:23 (NIV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So are you ready to let go of that unforgiveness, that anger, that hurt are had you rather spend some more time in the pig pen. Because to ask for forgiveness and not let go is no different from the story of the slave and his Master.

Matthew 18:23-35 New International Version (NIV)
23 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had, be sold to repay the debt.
26 “At this the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ 27 The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
28 “But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.
29 “His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’
30 “But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened.
32 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ 34 In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” FROM YOUR HEART you can not forgive them and hang on to it as well. Think about it and read this story over if you have to then remember the statement at the beginning of this devotional “When one ask for Forgiveness one must be ready to let go of the sin.”

  1. I like this because if some one dose you wrong and you say I forgive you, but if it stays in your mind and you continue to think about it then you didn’t forgive. I see it like this. if you forgive then you dont keep talking about it. When you let go of anything truly then you never think on it anymore and that’s how you know you let go. you can always tell by someone that says I”m over that but keep talking about it then they have not let go. Even if I say that myself and keep talking about it I haven’t let it go!! I really like this!!
