A Song of David

Psalm 18:2 (NIV)
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

A Song of David, Which He Sang to God After Being Saved from All His Enemies.

When I read this I though of the time when I was in Chicago and they were building the Sears Tower. They had to dig down some 700 feet to find bedrock [sturdy, solid rock] to set the corner post to they needed a strong sturdy foundation to build this building on. I also thought of what Jesus was saying when he said Matthew 16:18 (NIV) Here is what I tell you. You are Peter. On this rock I will build my church. The gates of hell will not be strong enough to destroy it. I really like the way The Message Bible said it Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.

Peter’s belief is what Jesus was looking at God looks at our hearts not us Peter was sold out to Jesus he may not have said it right all the time and like us he stuck his foot in his mouth often however in his heart he was sold out he totally believed in Jesus Christ and that belief is what we need then the gates of hell does not stand a chance. If only we could grasp what these scriptures are saying. The Lord is my ROCK— my BEDROCK, my SOLID ROCK, my EVERYTHING.

If we can grasp what David and Jesus are saying here I believe Jesus was not saying on Peter he would build His church he was saying on this kind of FAITH He would build His Church and even the gates of hell could not stand against that FAITH. There are way to many faltering FAITHS today as soon as a problem arises some turn to themselves to try to handle it and can not and all at once God let them down — No He didn’t they let themselves down because they tried to fix it themselves. We need to establish our FAITH upon that SOLID BEDROCK Jesus Christ and let Him work through us let us have the FAITH of PETER. Then and only then will the GATES OF HELL not stand a chance.

Let us grab hold of this as I come to the end:

Rock – bedrock, solid rock
Fortress – A fortified place, especially a large, permanent military stronghold.
Deliverer – To bring or transport to the proper place or recipient. +
Shield – A broad piece of armor made of rigid material and strapped to the arm or carried in the hand for protection against hurled or trusted weapons. Sovereign, One that exercises supreme, permanent authority,
Horn – Symbolizes strength
Salvation – Deliverance from the power or penalty of sin; redemption.
Stronghold – A place of survival or refuge.

I hope that we get hold of this and understand what is being said to us. By David and Jesus in these scriptures. I pray that this will help make us stronger in our belief.

Psalm 18:2 (NIV) The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

BLESS GOD again…

1 Corinthians 9:19 (NKJV) For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;
