Bread of Life

I wish to talk about just a couple of verses however first let us look at what is the bread or life. John 6: 35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will NEVER go hungry, and whoever believes in me will NEVER be thirsty. How about this Jesus is our savior if we accept Him and What He has done we need nothing else. Bread represents SALVATION this is what he did for us. He died so that we might live 1 John 4:9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. Thirst represents the WORD, I believe that we never have to wonder any more we can know. John 8:32 (NIV) Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
We read in John 6: 35 that Jesus is the bread of life [OUR SALVATION] the new covenant. The old covenant [the law] God fed the Israelites manna [the bread] from heaven through Moses they were trying to live up to the expectations that were basically impossible. (I have said for years God gave Moses 10 Commandments to show them they needed a redeemer the This is where we see that Jesus is to) Jesus was born to take us from the old covenant [law] to the new covenant [grace].

He died so the OLD COVENANT [the law] died with Him. We see this in Romans 10:4 (NKJV) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. and gave us a new covenant [grace]. Then He rose, after 3 days and gave birth to the NEW COVENANT [grace] John 6: 32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread [SALVATION] from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread [SALVATION] from heaven.
We are no longer under the law period, it is dead: gone, over, done, finished. Now we live by GRACE meaning Jesus paid the ultimate price for us. The bread [SALVATION] is what God desires for us. John 6: 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats [receives] this bread will live forever [eternal life]. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
Now let us look at John 6: 28-29 28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” 29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” I love what Paul says in Romans 10:13 (KJV) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

A large amount of Christians are constantly working to please God we have to do this or that. Trying to sneak into heaven doing just enough to get in. Thus John 6: 28 what must we do, we have to do something. However we are not under the law so why do we want to try to obey the law. So what must we do John 6: 29 believe in the one [Jesus] He [God} has sent. There is nothing else, not saying that we have nothing to do. As we read and study and fellowship and grow, and we do grow as well, another article for another time. We desire to do things, not because we have to because we want to.

Have you ever got something new and you want to tell everyone how great it is how it makes life easier or can get things done faster and easier. You desire to tell people, well that is with salvation or should be. That is growing we start out so to speak on a bottle, we get feed the milk. Then we grow into baby food we are starting to read the Bible and understanding part of it, we are learning and taking notes and looking up etc. Then we start feeding ourselves and sometimes we get messy and need to be cleaned up. Then the solid food starts. That is growing in God, however there are a group that do not wish to grow however they do anyway. It is like living in a place where others are educated and some are not, they hear things however do not understand them.

I am telling you there is no greater high than leading someone to Jesus and watching them grow. It makes you want more, so what is God saying to you. Talk about what God has done and is doing for you. Talk about the answered prayers here or in Church. Let us do something for God not because we have to because we want to, Taking Matthew 28: 19-20 to heart. Again there is a big difference in doing anything because we want to instead of because we have to.

One of the stories I remember like it was yesterday, I was involved in the bus ministry at my church in Texas. I had a bus route and I worked at it hard. There was this little 6-year-old girl named Kari. My sons and I were working our route as we did every Saturday afternoon. I was walking down the street and all the kids knew me and knew I had candy [the hard peppermint] and I was talking to a couple of the neighborhood boys and this little cutie came up and just stood there and I turned and looked at her and she asked if she could have a piece of candy. I handed it to her and she said thank you, which was unusual.

However she stood there quietly and listened and as I started to walk away she asked in a timed voice, ”can I go to Church with you?” I stopped and looked at her and responded, “Well I need to ask your mom or dad.” With that she reached up and took my hand and pulled on it so I followed her to the door of the house. She ran in and this young woman came to the door.

I introduced myself and told her that her daughter asked if she could go to Church with me on my bus. We talked for a few minutes and she agreed and I told her when I would be by and left. Well for a couple of months she was on the bus and it seemed every time I would be down or something she would say something sweet and I would melt. Well then one day the bus had not started and I was running late and was up tight and Kari ran out and got on the bus. Her clothes were wrinkled and her socks were two different colors. She got on the bus and stopped and looked at me and said “I love you pastor Jym.” I melted so when I took her home that day I got off the bus to speak to her mom however mom was asleep.

The following Saturday I stopped by and she came to the door. As diplomatically as possible I tried to ask about Keri and her clothes, I was ready to by her some if I needed to. However I found that her mom was a stripper in a bar and her boyfriend was a bouncer there. He was a black gentleman and polite. So the problem was that Keri would get up on Sunday on her on and get dressed herself. So mom says if you would like to help her get dressed that is OK with me we get home early in the morning and sleep through most of the day. Well anyway that is what I started doing.

This is where the story starts. There was a little brother he was almost 3 and one Saturday mom was doing the laundry and someone knocked on the door and she had a cup of bleach in her hand. She sat it down and went to answer the door. When she came back the baby had the cup in his hand and was drinking the bleach. Well it went from bad to worse as mom and dad started screaming and running around to get dressed. As the story goes they all were crying and excited and Kari (remembering she is 6 years old) stops and starts to pray. All at once a calm came over the house they got dressed and rushed to the hospital. The baby drank the bleach however they could not find it in his system anywhere.

Now it is the following Sunday and I pull up in the bus to get Kari and out the door cam Kari, mom and boyfriend with the baby. They went to Church and got saved and baptized. Mom stopped striping and the boyfriend quit they both got different, respectful jobs. That was 32 years ago and I have not forgotten it and that is what I am talking about. A little 6-year-old girl goes to Church and gets saved and is an example of God to mom and boyfriend and they get saved and by the way got married.

Thank You and may you be touched by God in a mighty way. And if any that views this material are not saved knowing Jesus Christ as their savior please consider accepting him. Psalm 5:8 (AMP) Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way level (straight and right) before my face.
