Choose You This Day Who You Will Serve

Choose which side you wish to be on for trying to say one is a Christian and love the world and its values, is not a Christian.  The love of our Father is not measured in things.  It is measured by the word of our Father.

Choose You This Day Who You Will Serve

1 John 2:15-16 (NKJV) 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

Today I have struggled with what to teach on.  I have prayed and I have not written anything.  I know what I have been given however did not wish to do it.  However, I have no choice so here it is. The old saying”This world is not my home I am only passing through” has rung through church after church. However, do we believe it or I should say respect it.  This world is NOT my home. Is the point I am to write about today so here we go.  Time to choose whom one is going to serve– one can not serve the Lord and the defeated one.  Riding the fence is a choice for hell.

We have read in 2 Corinthians 6:14 (NKJV)  believers should not be yoked with unbelievers now this is not saying we can not go around them or minister to them it is talking about hanging out with them or listening to their dirty jokes and laughing with them etc.  Jesus sat with them and ministered to them, however, he did not live with them and he did spend a lot of time alone praying.

We should not crave the things of the world I am not saying that we can not have a car or a home I am saying when they become more important that God in one’s life we are wrong.  For what we are doing is trading the creator for the creation.  Let us read Romans 1:25 (NKJV) who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, we need to realize what is going on around us and not fall into that trap, do not love the world more than one loves our Lord and Savior.  Like it or not we need to choose a side there is no middle ground, in fact, has never been.

Having what one needs is not craving things of the world.  Do I need $35,000.00 watch to tell time?   No, I have a $30 watch that has not lost a minute in the 5 years I have had it.  Do I need $100,000.00 car no I do not and do not wish for one?  One this comfortable and runs good an older one is fine.  The point is if one starts (for lack of a better way of saying it) trying to keep us with the Jones’ instead of listing to the Holy Spirit, one will end up in trouble.

I have a Pastor that I listen to a lot and he says I will not preach at you about giving I will say listen to the Holy Spirit He knows what you can afford and that is good enough for me.  This is not a message about giving it is a message about taking our eyes of the creator and getting them on the creation.  I do thank those that have come along side and donated to the Ministry to keep us afloat.

I will end this with a quote from Dr. Jack Hyles, I once heard him say “there are two kinds of people in the world givers and receivers– receivers can only be happy when someone gives them something however givers can be happy any time they wish all they have to do is give someone something” that was back in 1982 that I heard that have not forgotten it. He said if he was having one of those days he would go by the back and get a roll of dimes and go to the airport and stand by the paper machines and when someone would stop to get a paper he would drop and dime in for them. He also talked about parking meters see one about to expire and drop a nickel in. He is a very humble man. Also a very happy man…

Memory Verse for December 9, 2016

Joshua 24:15 (NKJV) And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
