Yes that building on the corner is a Church building and that is it nothing else only a building. However there are people who think that is where God lives. So I thought I would address this deception of Church.
In the Old Testament,God commanded the Tabernacle to be built, it was a place for God to dwell with the people. The people did not meet inside the Tabernacle. Only the priests entered the Tabernacle. The people met together and worshiped God outside under the open sky. They never went into the Tabernacle or later the Temple. Acts 7:48 (NKJV) “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: As we read on we see in Acts 7:49-50 (NKJV) 49 ‘Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the Lord, Or what is the place of My rest? 50 Has My hand not made all these things?’
God does not dwell in a building today, He dwells in our hearts. We do not have to meet at a building [Church] or even go to a particular building [todays Church building] to worship God. A church building is not needed for us to meet or worship God, nor is it needed for the center of the life of the Real Church. 1 Corinthians 3:16 (NKJV) Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV) 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
2 Corinthians 6:16-17 (NKJV) 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you[a] are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.” 17 Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”
Let us finish this with Ephesians 2:19-22 (NKJV) 19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
I think these scriptures say it good enough and to the point is, the Church is not in a building that man designed built, it is in the people who God designed and built…
