Digging Up Bones

I heard a different message Sunday about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I am not going to go into that though. However I am going into a part of it. The title of “Digging Up Bones” come from a song by Randy Travis. If you never heard it I would say go to you tubes and listen to it. However what I am going to do is take the title and run with it.

We have a lot of Christians “Digging Up Bones” they carry around these old things that happened years ago, things they did years ago. Even someone did something to them and they keep going back to it and resurrecting it. I am writing this hoping to start a new for a lot of us. When we go back and pull up this old garbage, for that is what it is garbage it stinks, it smells, it is rotten. Then you roll around in it and play in it. We walk around stinking from them dead memories.

Have you ever been out in the woods walking and a stinky smell comes up and it is horrible and you find a dead animal that has laid there and rotted. Would you lay down in that mess and roll around and get it all over you. Well that is what is happening when you bring up them old memories you are just “Digging Up Bones”. The Scripture is very strong about old things dying. Revelation 21:5 (NIV) He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” or in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

I want you to read these two verses, I do not care how many times you have to do it. I want you to read it until your mind and your spirit has grasped what it is saying… Galatians 2:20-2 (NKJV) 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

I will try to put this is language we all will understand. When one accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The past died on the cross with Jesus it is dead and gone it is no more. However we all have been guilty of digging, we go get our shovel out and dig up the grave [roll the stone away] so to speak. We do that by thinking and holding on to those old memories. I am not blaming anyone I have done it for years so I am not holier than anyone. However what I am saying is what we do is go back there dig them up and wallow around in that stinky old mess. Then we walk around all stinky and dirty and we have to go get cleaned up again, pray and ask for forgiveness and go again.

Well today is a new day and I am asking for the members and others to bury that old man and leave him buried. Close the door on the past and lock it, and throw away the key. Let us start today leaving the past in the past. Some of us will be able to turn around and walk away some of us will have to work at it. I am here for both, I am here to help everyone grow. Sometimes it’s easy sometimes it’s not some need to forgive and let go some need to just let go. However I will walk with you through it. So I am going to use a very special memory verse today and I pray that everyone memorizes it and stand on it, for I have no doubt that It will see you through… It is time for a change and let us stop “Digging Up Bones”

Memory Verse for April 7, 2015

Philippians 4:13 (NIRV) I can do all this by the power of Christ. He gives me strength.

May God be with you and watch over you. And America it is time for us to BLESS GOD again…

1 Corinthians 9:19 [NKJV] For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;
