Fear of The Lord
Fear of The Lord I hear a lot of people saying we need to respect God in fact they go as far as to say we should have a deep respect for Him however the word fear appears 300 time [according to which version] referring to God.

So let us look at Proverbs 1:7 (NIV) The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools [morally deficient] despise wisdom and instruction. Here we see that the FEAR OF THE LORD is the beginning of knowledge and that the morally deficient [sinners] despises it. So we need to understand and acknowledge how great God is and we should and need to submit to His leadership or even His rulership. An example is as a child would to their parent[s].
If we look around today we see that a large amount of children have no respect for their parents and I believe that is due to the fact that our Government is trying to remove God period. In fact those same children have no respect for themselves. So now maybe we understand this verse a little better Psalm 25:14 (NKJV) The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.
We can only respect Him if we are experiencing His presence and seeing His work in our lives. God is gracious however if we are in rebellion of Him and lose our fear He can also judge us. So again having an awesome understanding of our God by knowing Him by experiencing His presence and watching him work in our own lives.
2 Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV) Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. It is clear from this verse that fearing God is good because it saves us from caving into our own sinful nature.
So I will end this devotional with this scripture Psalm 103:17 (NKJV) But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children. I do hope this helps you with your knowledge and understanding of the scripture and our God…
