Fighting With A Defeated Enemy

Fighting with a defeated Enemy why do we do that really.  We know that Jesus did that already so wy do we continue the fight.  Well he does this and he does that, so, Jesus finished that fight on the cross.  We have Goliaths in our life all the time, dealing with money problems dealing with everyday life. They are nothing more that a Goliath in our life so let us look at how David dealt with it…

Fighting With A Defeated Enemy

I am sure everyone has heard the story of David and Goliath. So I am not going to go into that again. What I want to do is give a little introduction to David and Goliath

The Philistine army had gathered for war against Israel. The two armies faced each other, camped for battle on opposite sides of a steep valley. A Philistine giant measuring over nine feet tall and wearing full armor came out each day for forty days, mocking and challenging the Israelites to fight. His name was Goliath. Saul , the King of Israel, and the whole army were terrified of Goliath.

David’s faith in God caused him to look at the giant from a different perspective. Goliath was merely a mortal man defying an all-powerful God. David looked at the battle from God’s point of view. If we look at giant problems and impossible situations from God’s perspective, we realize that God will fight for us and with us. When we put things in proper perspective, we see more clearly and we can fight more effectively, there is no reason for fighting with the defeated one.

When the giant criticized, insulted and threatened, David didn’t stop or even waver. Everyone else cowered in fear, but David ran to the battle. He knew that action needed to be taken. David did the right thing in spite of discouraging insults and fearful threats. Only God’s opinion mattered to David.

My favorite remark by David was 5 of the most powerful words spoken “Is There Not A Cause” 1 Samuel 17:29 And I said all of this to say we all have a giant in our lives and in some cases more than one. However with Davids perspective we can see the giant for what it is and we can face it believing 1 John 4:4 (NIV) You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world, thus no reason to be fighting with the defeated one.

We should learn to not run from the battle we should run at the battle for God is with us and the only thing we have to fear is fear. David killed this giant with one small rock we can kill our giant with one small simple honest prayer from our heart that being our rock…

Memory Verse for February 8, 2015

1 John 4:4 (NIV) You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

  1. I BELIEVE GOD WAS WITH DAVID, AND DAVID WASNT AFRAID HE KILLED A BEAR A LOIN AND SOMETHING ELSE IM TIRED I CANT THINK!!~ ANYWAY DAVID WAS BRAVE AND WAS SURE OF HIMSELF, WHY BECAUSE OF WHAT I JUST SAID!!~AND WHEN GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE YOU CANT LOOSE!!~ I LIKED DAVID HE SOUGHT AFTER GODS OWN HEART!!~ HE TALKED WITH HIM, AND CONSULTED HIM BEFORE HE DID ANYTHING, SOMETHING WE SHOULD LEARN LISTEN TO THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND HIS THOUGHTS ARE HIGHER AND WAYS ARE HIGHER. WHY NOT GO TO HIM FIRST, INSTEAD OF THE LAST RESORT??~ IT SEEMS WE START SOMETHING AND WHEN IT FAILS WE SHOULD HAVE WENT TO HIM FIRST!! THIS IS GOOD JYM THANK YOU!!
