God Is Love

Today I would like all to understand that God did not create us so that we would LOVE Him, He created us so He could LOVE us. Then, I will LOVE others with the LOVE I have been given. See if you have the LOVE of God in you, It can not be helped it will come out there is no place else for it to go, Jesus said in John 13:34 (NIV) “A new command I give you: LOVE one another. As I have LOVED you, so you must LOVE one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you LOVE one another.” We are told here to LOVE as we have been LOVED, the key here is have been LOVED. John 3:16 For God so LOVED the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
I think we agree that God LOVED us first. I mean did you have children so the would LOVE you? No, you had them so you could LOVE them. I do hope that you believe that this life is about GOD LOVING YOU… and then in return you will LOVE others as God has LOVED you.
So let us get to the Scripture this devotional is about 1 John 4:8-10 (NIV) 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. So here we see that GOD IS LOVE. So if God is love and he loves us and we love others then we are showing God to others, don’t you agree? Let us move on, verse 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might LIVE through him. So here we see how God shows us He LOVES us He sent His Only Son, why did He sent Jesus? So that we might DIE, no so that we might LIVE. We spend our life hoping and preparing to die and that is not why Jesus died, He DIED so that we might LIVE. We do spend our life hoping we are good enough, that we did all the right things, that we prayed enough, went to church enough… And that is not why Jesus died it was so we might have LIFE. Did Jesus die so that we might DIE? No so that we might LIVE let us look at verse 10 This is LOVE: not that we LOVED God, but that he LOVED us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. An atoning [a verb (used with object) to bring into unity, harmony, concord] Jesus died so that we might LIVE.
So my pray is that we start LIVING the LIFE that God has for us. and let our LIFE be a testimony of WHO WE ARE…
