It’s Not About the Building

John 2:18-22 (NKJV) 18 Then the Jewish leaders asked him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do this?”

19 Jesus answered them, “When you destroy this temple, I will raise it up again in three days.”

20 They replied, “It has taken 46 years to build this temple. Are you going to raise it up in three days?” 21 But the temple Jesus had spoken about was his body. 22 His disciples later remembered what he had said. That was after he had been raised from the dead. Then they believed the Scripture. They also believed the words that Jesus had spoken.

We know the story of Jesus and the rope whip and how he ran the money changers out of the temple. Then in verse 18 they asked Him for a sign and he gave them one however they were so blind they did not see it. They had all their interest in that building – the Temple and missed the whole point. Jesus was not talking about that building He was talking about Himself. I do believe the disciples caught it.

Today’s Devotional is a simple one however very very powerful in the fact of what is said in verse 19 Jesus answered them, “When you destroy this temple, I will raise it up again in three days.” Destroy THIS temple. He was telling them they were going to kill Him however in 3 days He would return. Our Christian Walk and Belief is based on verse 19.

They were so wrapped up in the building that they could not see the truth. I believe today is no different. We have these Mega Churches and the people get lost in the shuffle for the all mighty dollar. It is not about the people it is about the money. I have been involved in a couple of them and watched what happened. When I can I attend a small church were everyone knows everyone and the Pastor knows everyone’s name. I do believe the true gospel is in the small churches across the land. For it is about the people, we have a nice little building and they are wanting to build a Sunday School building for the children.

Before the children are dismissed for Sunday School they are brought up front and the Church prays for them. The children and the people are the most important thing in our church and that is, to me, the way it should be. I have grown more in the few years in this little church than I did in the Mega Churches I was in. No more I want a small personal church. Let us not forget why Jesus came, it’s not about the building it was and is about the Church…

May God be with you and watch over you. And America it is time for us to BLESS GOD again…

Psalm 5:8 (NKJV)
Lead me, O Lord, in
Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my
face.

  1. People do get wrapped up in a lot of things when it comes to church. What to wear. a big church or small church. Go just so everyone knows you go just to be seen. I dont this music. This is a long way from home to go to this church. These people are snobby!~ No one welcomes you at this church when you walk in. I dont feel any love here!~ Look what the preachers wife is wearing, LOL, Had to throw that one in!~ The preachers kids are wild running all over the sanctuary!! You would think he would tell them to stop that~LOL Had to throw that one in too. LOL~ We all have our opinions. But the most important thing is your relationship with Jesus Christ!!` Your First Love!~ Thats what matters to me!!
