John 16:29-33 (NKJV) 29 His disciples said to Him, “See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech! 30 Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God.”
31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32 Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
“A little while”, the disciples was not sure what he was talking about. Well to us it seems like a long time for it has been 2020 years or so and He has not returned, however, remembering 2 Peter 3:8 (NKJV) But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. To Him it is a little while.
The question He ask the disciples I ask today. “Do you now believe?” There is a time a coming when we will be scattered, are we scattered? Jesus says that in Him we can find peace. So why are we struggling with this world and what is going on. Today it is corona-virus, tomorrow it will be something else for the day before yesterday it was something else.
There is always something that is going to destroy this world and there always will be. However we have to remember THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR HOME! The Bible is full of scripture that says if we believer then we will be safe. So what do we do? How about telling others about Jesus and what He did for you. How about showing others how not to worry about the mess of this world.
Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV) 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
My question today is do we know what things He COMMANDED us? Are we doing what He COMMANDED us? If not why not? That should be what our life is all about, telling others about the saving grace of our Father and what Jesus did for us.
Lord I pray this will sink in and will be what we are about. I pray that we learn to do as we have been commanded… I pray this all in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our only Lord and Savior—AMEN!
