Jonah And The Great Fish And The Calming Of The Storm

Jonah ran from God and ended up in the belly of the great fish… God or Father wanted Jonah to do something and he ran from the calling. And ended up in the belly of the great fish…   Why did he go through this?  Is there something we can learn from this story?

Jonah And The Great Fish And The Calming Of The Storm

Jonah 1:11-12 (MEV) 11 Then they said to Jonah, “What shall we do to you, so that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea was growing stormier.
12 So Jonah said to them, “Pick me up and toss me into the sea. Then the sea will quiet down for you. For I know that it is on my account this great storm has come upon you.”

We all have heard the story of Jonah and the great fish (whale) and where God our Father wished him to go and it took a trip in the belly of a fish to get him there. One simple question is there a whale in your life.

It might be a mountain or a valley—it could be a storm or a dry desert… Whatever or where ever one might be going through. It is no different than the belly of the great fish. You feel alone on top of the mountain or lost in the valley or stranded in the middle of a desert. One question comes to mine “does our Father have your attention yet?’

I can tell you from experience doing the wrong thing when our Father, has something for us to do and we go to our Tarshish instead of Nineveh we will spend our time in the belly of that great fish. In fact, we may be thrown into the sea as well so one more time “does our Father have your attention yet?’

Memory Verse December 23, 2017

Jonah 1:17 (MEV) Now the Lord appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
