Mind Reading

I did not write this am not sure who did I found it again and read it again I did change a couple of thing like Satan to satan [the accuser] and the Devil to devil [the slanderer]. And a couple of the verses to (NKJV).  This is something I found years ago and keep it I believe for a time such as this.   The thing about it I have been asked a few times about the enemy reading our minds and I think this covers it pretty good and at the same time tells us what we need to do. For those that are with me on Facebook, I think you can understand why I put the Armor on daily for each and every one of us in our Christian family.

No, our thoughts are heard only by ourselves and God. As has been stated, satan [the accuser] is not omniscient, and at the same time, he probably hasn’t tempted any one of us personally. he has his followers who do his work and will.

Psychologically there are ways to “read minds” based upon tricks and whatnot. Subliminal messages, and the like. The thing is, it’s not real mind-reading; but it is knowing the target well enough, or having enough control of the situation where a guess of the projected thoughts can be made. Either way, it’s not an easy thing to do, and those who can do it successfully tend to be quite smart.

And, that’s what satan [the accuser], and his demons are. They are much smarter than any of us would like to admit, or think, and it’s because of them being around for so long. They’ve ‘studied’ human behavior since the very beginning, and they’ve been incredibly successful at manipulating even the Godliest of people.

The demons are quite organized, and have had thousands of years to master their crafts. Many people believe in generational sins – sins passed from parents to a second generation. I don’t buy into this (Ezekiel 18). However, we know through science certain sinful traits and characteristics can be passed on to offspring. As it is – I think it’s a testament to just how smart demons can be. As, I hold the view that the demons merely look at the person, and say, “Well, if we got his father with it, we’ll get him with it, too.”

So, demons give an illusion of having a sort of omnipotence, omniscience and which tends to give satan [the accuser] the illusion of omnipresence. Having been around man so long, they know what we’re like when we’re alone – the ones around us hear what we say when no one is around. They pick up on our personality, learning only what we reveal to them through our actions. Then, when the time is right, that fiery dart hits us, and we hear ‘ourselves’ saying, “You’re pathetic.” Or, tempting us to do something.

So, just keep in mind that our enemy isn’t necessarily weak and stupid. There is a real war going on around us, and though the fate of our spiritual enemies are sealed, the battle still rages on. Yes, they’ve been defeated by the shed blood of the lamb – but, they’ve yet to be cast into the lake of fire just yet.

Jude 9: But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV)
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Can satan [the accuser] hear what we say and know our thoughts? Should we avoid praying out loud because satan [the accuser] might hear us?

There is nothing in the Bible to indicate that satan [the accuser] is omniscient. There are no verses that say he knows everything or that he can read our thoughts. But he is very adept at predicting human behavior because he’s seen it operate for so long. He can anticipate what you might do in a given situation without knowing your thoughts because of his knowledge of humankind and because he has a supernatural mind.

But in terms of being omniscient and being able to read your thoughts (as God can), the Bible does not support that idea at all. It never tells us that angels are omniscient. And if a holy angel isn’t omniscient, neither is a fallen one. So, satan [the accuser] can’t read our thoughts, even if he’s great at predicting human behavior because he’s seen so much of it.

I was speaking at a conference in Iowa about this problem. People were asking questions like “How do you deal with demons?” and “Do we need exorcism to get rid of demons?” Well, there are a lot of people today who say you do. I once read a book about deliverance in which the author described a doctor who was supposedly delivered from the demon of post-nasal drip. And in this approach, whenever you think you have a demon, there’s a certain magical formula you say or you run around or “plead the blood”—whatever that phrase means, since it’s not from the Scripture. The blood has already been plead in your behalf at the time of your salvation and that takes care of it.

There are people who advocate little formulas and seance-type practices with a Christian connotation, claiming that they can cast out demons and so forth. But when you get into the Bible, you find that dealing with the devil [the slanderer] is really as simple as going to Ephesians 6 and putting on the Armor of God. You see, in Ephesians 6, it says, 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places, right? We’re wrestling against demons and against satan [the accuser].

But what do we do about it? The best place to find out is to read right in that same chapter, isn’t it? Notice that it does not say, “Go get your demons exorcised with a Christian exorcism.” Nor does it say, “Go get somebody to cast your demon out.” It says, “Put on the whole Armor of God,” and what that whole Armor really consists of is righteousness. The heart of it is “the breastplate of righteousness.” The key then is to live a righteous, Spirit-filled life and to trust in the sovereign power of God.

So, there is nothing in the Bible that says satan [the accuser] can read our thoughts. Certainly demons can hear what we say. They can understand what we say. And as I said before, they are very good at predicting the common responses of man because they’ve been at it for such a long time.

But don’t worry about that!A lady once said to me, “We whisper,” because she was afraid of demons hearing her prayers. My response was, “Well, that’s foolish!”You can go boldly before the throne of grace. In the Old Testament, it doesn’t say, “And David whispered to the Lord;” it says, “And David said unto the Lord”—and out it came. You never hear any time in the apostle Paul’s instruction to us about prayer when he says, “Don’t talk out loud.” When he wanted to pray, he just flat-out prayed and it didn’t bother him whether satan [the accuser] heard it because he was living in such a way that satan [the accuser] couldn’t do anything about it anyway. That’s the issue.
