The First Sin

I thought we should look at the first sin. Let us look at the story first. Genesis 3:1-4 1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
The serpent was more cunning [ getting what is wanted in a clever and deceptive way] Let us look closer at what the serpent says in verse 5 Jym talking when you eat of it you will be like God… Wait a minute, Chapter 2 verse 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. God breathed life into him and the man became a living thing. So it was like God he or the woman had sinned. In fact it says is verse 25 And they were both naked, and they were not ashamed. So is it possible that they were already like God?
If so why did they need to eat the fruit, they had everything they would ever need and they could have lived there forever however the serpent was conning the woman into believing God had something she did not have and all he has to do is make her accept and believe the lie. That is what he does to us all the time. He is here on the earth running around as the Lord says in John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. The thief, serpent, satan [accuser], devil [slanderer] all the same doing the same thing today. He speaks into your ear lies and deception and then convenes us that it is the truth. Exactly what he did to the woman. He convened someone who was already like God that God was holding out and lying to her.
So now let us look at the rest of the story. Genesis 3:6-7 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.As I read this I think of how sin sort of sneaks in not right up in yours face more like slowly moving in.
Let’s look at it and see:
- 1st the woman Saw the tree was good for food.
- 2nd then it was pleasant to the eye.
- 3rd it desirable to eat.
Three steps lead to sin the first sin. They did what God said not to do. So sin entered into the world and so did death.
