Part One Repent Is The Starting Place Matthew 4:17

Part One Repent is the first commandment I believe from Jesus… REPENT and that is where we will start. Repent what does it mean, why is it so important.

Matthew 4:17 (MEV) From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent! For the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Definition Of Repent

Repent: To feel remorse, contrition, or self-reproach for what one has done or failed to do; be contrite. To feel such regret for past conduct as to change one’s mind regarding it.

How To’s

The first step in becoming a Christian is to REPENT. There is one road we walk on, one way is to Heaven the other is to hell. A misconception is a bunch of different thoughts. However we need to understand one thing.

We can not walk in both directions. There is no stop signs. And old saying straddling the fence, there is no fence. The Bible is very clear.

Matthew 6:24 (MEV) “No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. In Luke he says “no servant” can serve two masters.

You can take it as serving money or God or serving the enemy satan or God. It could be ones job or God or even the TV or God. We need to decide who or what we are going to follow… A book could be written on this subject, but to put it simply walking toward Heaven or the other direction to hell.

The biggest problem here is going to Heaven on Sunday and turning around on Monday. Back and forth then wondering why life is not working. Well actually it is working, however not as one hopes or believes. It is working for the enemy and that is what he wants…

Repenting is turning away from our sinful nature and following our Lord and Savior. Will we do it all right NO. However, it does not mean we stop trying and as we grow the slipping will grow less and less. The only perfect one died for us, so we do not have to be perfect.

That does not mean we do not have to try it just means we are saved if we desire to be. We grow just like a baby does. Starting out on a bottle and progressing to the point of feeding ourselves. Start out crawling on our hands and knees to walking and in some cases running. It is a process just like growing up.

I do hope this helps and the process of becoming a strong Christian… For this is where it starts.
