Paul Calls for us to examine ourselves. As I was searching for something to write a Devotional about I was reading in 2 Corinthians I was at chapter 13 and like the beginning I read it 3 times before I grasped what I was being told and the only way I could say it was like what you are about to read. At the same time I wonder, am I not listening or am I being taught to listen for I was struggling to write today…

Introduction

2 Corinthians 13:1-4 (MEV) 1 This is the third time I am coming to you. “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” 2 I told you before, and foretell as if I were present the second time. And being absent now, I write to those who have sinned before, and to all the others, that if I come again, I will not spare anyone, 3 since you seek proof of Christ speaking through me, who toward you is not weak, but is mighty in you. 4 For though He was crucified through weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. So also we are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God serving you.

Purpose

2 Corinthians 13:5-10 (MEV) 5 Examine yourselves, seeing whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not know that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. 6 I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified. 7 Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do that which is honorable, whether or not we may seem disqualified. 8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth. 9 For we are glad when we are weak, and you are strong. We wish even your perfection. 10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should be sharp, according to the authority which the Lord has given me for edification and not for destruction.

We Find In Verses 3 & 4 they were seeking proof so Paul says Jesus lives by the power of God. And that they (and I believe we) can live by the power of God who is now serving us…

However we need to examine ourselves to see if we are living in the power of our Father as Jesus is according to verse 5.

As Paul calls us I do pray that we all grow stronger with the Love of Jesus and what He did for us all so that we might be saved and live eternally with our Father in Heaven…

Closing

2 Corinthians 13:14 (MEV) The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Memory Verse April 12, 2019

2 Corinthians 2:9 (MEV) For to this end I also wrote, so that I might know that you are proving yourselves by whether you are being obedient in all things.
