Perfect Love Has No Fear A Complete Union
Perfect Love, what is it? Love suggest attraction indirectly, fear is the feeling of disgust . therefore fear does not exist in love. Love here means the principle of love in general; it must not be limited to God’s love to us, or our love of God, or our love of the brothers and sisters. Love and fear coexist only where love is not yet perfect. Perfect Love.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Perfect love will do away with fear as surely as a perfect union does away with separation. It is love for one’s self that fears; pure and unselfish love have no fear. Yet nothing but perfect love must be allowed in to cast out fear. Otherwise, this text might be made an excuse for taking the most inexcusable liberties with God. To do away with fear without getting to perfect love is to be critical of what is generally accepted. Christians must strive to be, however, to which, no one gets or reaches in this life. There is a fear which prepares the way for love, and when love does come this fear will leave when its work is done. Because fear has a punishment. Matthew 25:46 this does not mean “deserves” or “will receive punishment,” but quite frankly means “has punishment.” It is the day of judgment and fear in reference to that day that is under consideration, and fear of punishment is in itself punishment by anticipation. There is no fear in love, perfect love casts out fear, however, he that fears is not made perfect in love. To be afraid of the punishment may turn man from sin, however, it can’t lead them to righteousness. For that, we need either the sense of duty or the feeling of love.
This Devotional in part is taken from Matthew Henry’s pulpit notes after sitting and reading for an hour or so I felt it necessary to do this for I see this problem running ramped in the world today, and I hope this will help us learn and work at getting God’s perfect Love…
