Perilous Times and Perilous People, As A Christian

Perilous meaning; dangerous, unsafe… Involving or causing danger or risk; liable to hurt or harm. All we have to do is look around and see it. The time is here and we are in it. There was a time when the enemy would run from Christians. Now he just laughs, why is that?

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV) 1 But know this, that in the last days [times of stress]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [irreconcilable]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Wow this was written years and years ago and now here it is. The quote unquote Christians have turned from the church and turned to the world. All this, mentioned in these scriptures, looks like today. Churches are closing Pastors or getting other jobs. Many have done away with Sunday nights and ever more are doing away with Wednesday evening services.

Where would we be if Jesus had said I can not do this for I have a football game to go to or I need to work over again. What if God said I can not go today for I will miss the kick-off! People are finding all sorts of reasons not to go and here is one that is not thought about… Not studying, not praying, not learning leads straight to HELL!

The Pastor, nor Teacher, nor Shepherd can take anyone to Heaven, only themselves… It has to be your choice, you have to decide for yourself. However there is a list of thing that will become less important when we actually start following the Lord.

Here is where we must be or should I say will be if we follow Him… 2 Timothy 3:10-15 (NKJV) 10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Verse 12 says it all not some, not a few, but ALL who desire to live Godly in Christ Jesus well [without a doubt] suffer PERSECUTION. There it is being a Christian is not a walk in the park, did not say it would be easy, however. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for []instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The reward is GREAT so we much endure to the time we meet Him and bow down and confess that He is Lord the one and only Living God… I pray for strength and blessings for all that are following and for those that desire to follow. I now pray this all in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior—AMEN!
