Smarter is Better

Ecclesiastes 1:18 (NKJV) For in much wisdom is much grief, And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.

I remember the first time I read this I read it a few times then I closed my Bible and I thought great so why do I wish to learn more. Not sure if anyone else ever thought anything like that however it is how I felt at the time. However this goes just a little deeper than ME. Then I went back and read again and again then I actually saw Ecclesiastes 1:12-14 (NKJV) 12 I, the Preacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 1And I set my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven; this burdensome task God has given to the sons of man, by which they may be exercised. 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Without a Savior it was going to be virtually [almost but not quite] impossible for salvation. The more wisdom one got the more acute sorrow; deep sadness one got and with the increase of knowledge the earnest repentance; contrition: sorrow for sin. I sat back and read this over again and then I got it I think and it is still here today.

As a Christian I work at teaching others; about God, about Jesus, about what They did for us, how to accept it. Then it hit me right between the eyes. The more we read and study and understand our Fathers word and then we look around at the world and what is going on how our enemy [satan] has twisted and destroyed life how things have been turned around bad now mean good etc. How even the Word of God has been distorted and taken totally out of context it saddens us as we try to teach and are not heard thus with much wisdom is much grief, And increased knowledge increases sorrow.

Doesn’t it make you sad when you try to tell a loved one about Jesus and they laugh and walk away or you get that deer in the headlights look. You know that blank look. Well the more we read and study the more we see the wrong around us and the more it hurts to see loved ones were they are and wishing there was a magic word to make it all go away. Then realizing there is one all they have to do is accept it. However they think they are having fun and will have to give the fun up. We need to learn to be happy and smile and be cheerful and show the world that it is fun to be a Christian. It is fun to be sober and not high on drugs and/or alcohol we are high on Christ and what he did for us. We need to show them the happy side of Christianity and be what they are searching for.

So how about us working on being everything the lost is looking for and doing it without drugs, or alcohol that one can be happy in the middle of a storm because we have read the end of the book and we already know the answer. We have real HAPPINESS and real JOY and real PEACE for I believe, from experience, that is the problem. I have heard time after time I do not want to be a do nothing person that sits home and reads that Bible and pray and beat people over the head with that book. I want to enjoy life then I will get saved, sorry that was my lie for years. Let us practice being everything they are looking for, and see what happens. I am not saying that this is the total answer and all will come to Christ for that did not happen when Jesus was here. What I am saying is it is another tool to use and maybe smarter is better sometimes…
