Suffering for Righteousness Sake, Are We?

Suffering for righteousness are we, that is the question. We do not have a new shirt or top to wear to church for Christmas or Easter and we fall apart. Do we really believe that is enough?

Suffering for Righteousness Sake, Are We?

1 Peter 3:8-12 (MEV) 8 Finally, be all of one mind, be loving toward one another, be gracious, and be kind. 9 Do not repay evil for evil, or curse for curse, but on the contrary, bless, knowing that to this you are called, so that you may receive a blessing. 10 For “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
We also find this in Psalms 34:12-16

I feel this is something that we, as Christians, should be doing in the home, are we, are we suffering for righteousness?   Now some might say this was not written for the home. I say read it again it may sound strong, however, let us apply it and see.

Love one another be gracious and kind. OK being nosy, husbands when is the last time you offered to cook dinner or do the dishes (at least put them in the dishwasher)? So she gets upset about something and so you return it. Or wives he comes home with an attitude and you join in. Husbands, when you come home, get angry because supper is not ready and you say something you should not have said and gain wives the same thing.

I believe suffering for righteousness  starts with the home and how we take care of this then we understand 1 Timothy 3:5 we as men are the head of our family as Christ is the Church. However, it is so very true that we should bless for knowing you are called, so that you may receive a blessing. Men it starts with us, no matter what. They are watching us we are the teachers and that old saying “do as I say not as I do” does not hold water.
