Devotional for June 11, 2022

by Shepherd Jym Wells

What is going on today in this world and America, that is the question of the day for me. I will not get on a “High Horse” to say I have the answer because I don’t. All I know is what I have read and heard for years. We are in a nation that was built on FREEDOM. We can openly confess God and preach it, right now, my question is FOR HOW LONG?

The title today is; Shepherding the Flock

The scripture is 1 Peter 5:1-4 (NKJV)

1 The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: 2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; 4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

One thing I have learned is being a Christian is a 24-hour-a-day every day thing. It is not ever been a Sunday morning thing as some seem to think. It is a life-changing thing one’s walk and talk have changed. I do not believe that one can be a part-time Christian I think that is addressed in Matthew 7:13 (NKJV) “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.

We can find the answer to all our questions if we study the word continuously as we read in Matthew 7:7-12. Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? … The answers are in that book called “THE BIBLE”. Matthew 7:7-12 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? …

The church building is full Sunday morning but Sunday evening is a different story. Now I know that some can not drive at night but I am not talking about them, I am talking about the ones that think giving God Sunday Morning is good enough. Now I am not judging anyone I am wanting to see you all again in Heaven so think about what I am saying…
