Part One

1 Peter 3:8 (NKJV) Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers [and sisters], be tender-heated, be courteous;

As a young boy I remember hearing this word spoken “United We Stand, Divided We Fall”. In fact it was spoken all the time I can remember as a child and as I got older it was not said near as much and for the last few years I can not remember it being said at all. supposedly Aesop is the person who penned this statement I searched it as a boy in high school and found it was Aesop who lived from 620–564 BC and was an Ancient Greek fabulists or story-teller credited with a number of fables now collectively known as Aesop’s Fables. Although his existence remains uncertain and (if he ever existed) no writings by him survive, numerous tales credited to him were gathered across the centuries and in many languages in a storytelling tradition that continues to this day. Many of the tales are characterized by animals and inanimate objects that speak, solve problems, and generally have human characteristics.

While it seems like “United we stand divided we fall” would be the war cry of some famous soldier, it isn’t at all actual first recorded use dates back to Aesop and his fables. This quote can be found as a direct statement in “The Four Oxen and the Lion.” It can also be found indirectly in “The Bundle of Sticks.” I really think it is something that we all need to think about as we read and watch TV and see what is going on. It is no different now that it was in the days of the Israelites in the Old Testament. This country is at each others throats constantly. We read about this group doing this or that to this other group. It is even divided none believers, people are known by what party they are associated with Democrat or Republican or what one does for a living. We are even known by the car we drive or the beer one drinks.

It is even in the Christian Circles, and I think that is why these groups are growing as they are. God showed me that what we need to do is focus on Him, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and His word and Pray. That is what we do and Love is here and people desire to be loved and wanted and needed, That is what is here we love one another, we care and pray for one another and nothing else matters. It is all about God.

I wondered, why is that for years and I think I figured it out. If there was a group of people and I want to do something for myself if I can get this group looking at and disagreeing on something they will start arguing and fighting about it and as they do I go do what I wanted to do and know not one person noticed. That is what is going on in Washington DC and governments across this country and in church building as well. So I have said of this for one reason and the question is what does the Bible say about United? So let us take a look, I have spent some time doing this and I am going to divide it up and it might take a few days to put it all together. So here we go:

Unity of the People of God

Psalm 133:1 (NIV) How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

John 13:35 (NIRV) If you love one another, everyone will know you are my disciples.”

John 17:23 (NIV) I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Acts 4:32 (MSG) The whole congregation of believers was united as one—one heart, one mind! They didn’t even claim ownership of their own possessions. No one said, “That’s mine; you can’t have it.” They shared everything. The apostles gave powerful witness to the resurrection of the Master Jesus, and grace was on all of them.

Philippians 2:1 (NASB) 1 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;

Colossians 3:14 (NIV) And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

1 Corinthians 15:58 (AMP) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].

I am going to stop here for today and will continue tomorrow with more unity. I feel if we grasp the unity that God has for us that we will explode across this country and we will grow because we are in one accord what matters is God and what Jesus did for us. So I pray that each will return tomorrow and learn more about.  Part two will follow tomorrow God Bless
