Scripture For Today’s Devotional

Philippians 3:14 (NKJV) I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

In the Amplified Bible it says to win the [heavenly] prize, which I do like and understand. We all have been called and we all should be wanting to cross the finish line and win the prize. Which is eternity with our Father in Heaven…

I was reading a commentary and it put it this way “I press toward the mark; the allusion is to the white line, or mark, which the runners in the Olympic games made up to, and to which he that came first received the prize.” HEAVEN!

Running The Race

By accepting Jesus we all are winners. We will receive our reward when we finish the call of God in our lives. I do not believe there is one Christian that has been called to do nothing. Yes I believe there are those that come to church, however, I believe each should be prayed up and studied up.

Presenting Ourselves Approved

I keep turning back to 2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. The word approved in the Greek is dokimos (dok’-ee-mos) meaning, tested, approved used here as acceptable or tried.

This the reason we should study and understand. I remember when I first started reading the Bible, I spent most of my time confused and not understanding. However by studying and using the tools, our Father has supplied, I grew and am growing. Are we all called to do as I do? No, I do not believe that, but I do believe we are to grow. If not we do grow anyway, we grow stagnant as in dead.

I do pray this helps us understand WHO’S we are and WHAT we are suppose to be and should be doing. I pray that we all GROW in His LOVE, WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE, and UNDERSTANDING. In the name above all names Jesus Christ I do pray—AMEN!
