Boasting About Tomorrow Is Foolishness And Arrogance

Boasting is trying to control what we have no control over. We have no idea what tomorrow might bring for we do not control tomorrow. In fact we do not control the next minute or second. Our lives are in the Lords hands not ours…

James 4:13-17 (NKJV) 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow [let us]we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

If we only spent as much time taking care of RIGHT NOW and less time worrying about yesterday or tomorrow I think we might have fewer gray hairs and ulcers. Why do we concentrate on things we have no control over. We are not guaranteed another breath.

We are here for a very short time and then we are gone. Then comes the judgment, now that is something to think about Heaven or hell. That choice is ours and only ours. Choose you this day who you will serve. Joshua 24:15.

The past is just that the past, and the future is just that it is not even here yet. What we can take care of is right now THE PRESENT… It is a present given to us by our Lord and we need to use it wisely. Thinking about a year from now is actually stupid, we have no control over it…

Four words should be spoken before we speak of our plans for the future IF THE LORD WILLS. Then we will do this or that. Because boasting about the future is actually evil arrogance. Then comes the sin… If we know to do good and do not do it that is SIN…
